About the club: The Friendship Force of Fort Worth was established in 1986 and at that time served the metropolitan areas of both Dallas and Fort Worth. In 1994 a separate club was established in Dallas. The Fort Worth club has approximately 100 members representing about 70 households. The club has been hosting two incoming exchanges and supporting one outgoing exchange per year.

About the region: Located in north Texas, Fort Worth (population 600,000) and Dallas (population 1.1 million) form the hub of a metropolitan area of over 5 million people. Fort Worth, accurately described as a place of "cowboys and culture", is both a thriving cosmopolitan city and a spirited symbol of the Old West, and is known as the place "Where the West Begins". Originally established as a fort to protect settlers from Indians, eventually it became known as "Cowtown" at the height of the cattle trade in the late 1800's. Today this Western heritage has been preserved in the Sundance area of downtown and in the Stockyards National Historic District. In addition, Fort Worth boasts one of the most extensive and varied museum complexes in the southwest United States including the renowned Kimbell Art Museum, the Amon Carter Museum - A Collection of American Art, the Modern Art Museum, the Cowgirl Hall of Fame, and the newly reconstructed and expanded Museum of Science and History.

About exchanges: Ambassadors usually fly into DFW International Airport with access to their host's home from ten minutes to one hour by automobile. Ambassadors are greeted at the airport by their hosts.

Welcome and farewell parties are planned for each exchange with additional group outings such as rodeos, ranches and other glimpses of Western culture. A day in Dallas is often one of our activities. Primary focus for the exchanges is to establish a close relationship between hosts and ambassadors, to share our culture with our guests, and to have a lot of fun!
